Favourite Mile at Reggae Marathon

What’s your favourite mile at Reggae Marathon?  Mine is Mile 6 and here’s why:

  • At my pace, I hit Mile 6 after the sun has risen and made it above the tree line.  The bright sunlight reveals the line of runners stretching ahead and behind
  • Approaching Mile 6, the finish line on the left comes into view.  If running the 10K, it’s only a few hundred metres to go to the finish and my legs get a boost for a strong finish
  • Just before Mile 6, the Steel band that entertained at Friday night’s Pasta Party are going strong…it’s easy to break into a smile and pick up my pace.

Some Reggae Marathoners say Mile 13/Mile 26 is their favourite…with only Metres to go to the Finish.  Those final hundred metres or so is always surreal for me…exhausted from the running but exhilarated to know I’ll finish.

Then there’s Bob’s Mile.  That’s Mile 25 and it’s where you’ll see the first of several words-of-wisdom from Bob Marley to inspire you to the end.  Since the full Marathon makes up two loops, you’ll be inspired twice.

bobs-wisdom2So whether it’s Mile 6 or Mile 25, everyone seems to have a favourite mile at Reggae Marathon.  What’s yours?

Until next time…
