I needed a kick in the butt this past weekend

I needed a kick in the butt this past weekend to get me out and running.  I have no idea why.  I wasn’t sick, I wasn’t out partying last Friday night.  For some reason I needed a boost to get out for my weekend runs.  I turned to my trusty source, Gibson’s Daily Running Quotes for a kick in the butt:

“Go ahead and pick one: It’s too hot, cold, humid, windy, wet, icy. Weather is a great justification for not running because it shifts all blame to the forces of nature. It’s not my fault, you smugly assure yourself. It’s that annoying guy on The Weather Channel who predicted the brutal cold front that came through and prevented me from running. Nice excuse. But it’s not going to work. The weather is vitally important to all runners, but most runners figure that what doesn’t kill them just makes them tougher.”  – Amby Burfoot, Runner’s World Complete Book of Beginning Running.

“After running a few marathons I can explain to people why I run. It calms me. I can’t imagine not having it in my life. It helps me to sort through things. It’s like stepping outside myself and getting a better perspective of who I am. Running helps me focus better, helps me take my life in the direction it needs to go. It’s not like I concentrate on these topics while I’m in the process of running, but running opens my mind to all kinds of possibilities and perhaps the solution is out there waiting for me to find it. Running takes me to that place.” – Kim Ahrens, from First Marathons: Personal Encounters with the 26.2-Mile Monster by Gail Kislevitz.

“I run because long after my footprints fade away, maybe I will have inspired a few to reject the easy path, hit the trails, put one foot in front of the other, and come to the same conclusion I did: I run because it always takes me where I want to go.” – Dean Karnazes, Ultramarathon Man: Confessions of an All-Night Runner Maybe you need a boost every once in a while.  Hopefully these helped.

Until next time…
