Must Haves for Negril

There are some must haves for Negril.  Here’s what you absolutely need to have in order to enjoy Reggae Marathon…and Jamaica…to the fullest:

Race Registration and Confirmation.  Registering online ahead of your arrival in Negril helps us know how many runners will be with us for the race so we’ll be better prepared come race kit pick up time.  Online registration is still open at this link:  Reggae Marathon Registration.  Once registered, you can confirm it here:  Confirm Reggae Marathon Registration.

Travel Documents.  If you’re coming from ‘Foreign’, check and confirm your air travel, transportation and accommodation.  If you’re with a group (Reggae Runnerz for example) or with one of our travel partners in a package, you should receive confirmation from the Group Leader or Travel Agent.  In any case, check the travel and entry requirements for entry to Jamaica.  All of the information you need is at this link:  Travel to Jamaica.

Race Kit Pick-up. Pick up your race kit at Couples Swept Away Sports Complex on Thursday, December 1 and Friday, December 2.  You will need your Bib # and bring ID with you.  All the information about Reggae Marathon is at this link:  Reggae Marathon 2016 Fact Sheet.

Reggae Marathon Pasta Party.  “The World’s Best Pasta Party” runs Friday, December 2 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Cosmo’s.  This is a new location for 2016.  Cosmos’s is located near Long Bay Beach Park, the start/finish of Reggae Marathon and is a short walk from Couples Swept Away. Take a look at both locations on the map included in this link:  Cosmo’s and Couples.

Race Day, December 3!  Reggae Marathon starts promptly at 5:15 am at Long Bay Beach Park. This is a road course along the main road in Negril, Norman Washington Blvd.  The course is closed to vehicle traffic from before start time.  Reggae Marathon operates free shuttles from the hotels along the Beach Strip to the start/finish line.  Check with us when you pick up your race kit. Again, all the information you need can be found here:  Race Day!  After you finish, enjoy refreshments and a refreshing dip in the Caribbean. Bring a towel and change of clothes…we have a convenient bag check near the start/finish area.

Bring Suncreeen! Sunscreen is a must for enjoying those lazy days lounging on the beach before and after Reggae Marathon.  The sun is more intense in Negril.  Take care!

What to pack.  Bathing suit, Casual clothing, Running gear.  That’s it.  Remember, Negril is the Capital of Casual.  If you have more than a carry-on you’ve likely over packed.

And that’s it.  See you in Negril!

Until next time…
