Paul’s Second Life

Paul Stewart from Regina, Saskatchewan came to Reggae Marathon last week to celebrate his second life.

Paul and his wife Paige are regular visitors to Jamaica…this December was their 12th trip.  Neither had ever run the Reggae Marathon before…this was to be their first.  Back in October 2016 Paul had Open Heart surgery to replace an aortic valve.  He made a commitment to Paige before surgery that when he made it through, one of the life changes along with diet would be to celebrate his ‘second life’ by running the 10K at Reggae Marathon.

“It’s all your fault” was how Paul introduced himself to me after finishing when he caught up with me proudly showing his Finisher Medal.  Paul had learned about Reggae Marathon from our Social Media and followed us online as he and Paige planned their 2017 trip.  “I’ve been given this second life and I want it to be better than the first”.

As you can see, Paul and Paige were sweaty but all smiles as they celebrated at the Reggae Marathon post-race bash last Saturday.  And why not…life is indeed good, especially a second one!

Until next time…
