Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Races

Friends and Family at Reggae Marathon

No one runs alone at Reggae Marathon.  From the excitement of the Pasta Party Friday night to the start in the early morning Saturday through to the Post-race party, it seems like one big family get together at Reggae Marathon.  Even for first-timers.

At my first Reggae Marathon 5 years ago I traveled to Negril with my wife with great anticipation…and some apprehension.  I was registered for the full Marathon determined to finish my first marathon.  Choosing Reggae Marathon from all the destination races in the world was an easy choice:  great way to combine running with a ‘great value’ beach vacation in December.  We traveled to Negril alone.

Then we met some runners on the beach…and we were off and running!

Those friends were experienced Reggae Marathoners who had been coming to Negril for years, Bob and Debbie Moore.  As we got to talking they introduced us to others they knew and before long we lost the newbie feeling.  After finishing well after most of the crowds had gone from the Post-race party I expected the finish line experience to be lonely with only my wife waiting to cheer me on down the finish chute.  I was totally surprised to see our Bob at the finish chute waving madly and cheering me on.  We walked back along the beach to our hotel together chatting non-stop.  It was a very memorable experience!  It cemented for me that Reggae Marathon as the best race in the world!

Until next time…
