Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Races

14,727 participants raised over J$15 million in Kingston today

Reggae Marathon partnered with Pan Caribbean in presenting the 13th Annual PanCaribbean Sigma Corporate Run today with 14,729 registered participants. The 5k Wheel Chair, Run and Walk Race began in front of Pan Caribbean’s HQ on Knutsford Boulevard at 7:30am and culminated on Oxford Road.

The thousands of participants were cheered on by marching bands and countless spectators lining the route.

The race which began in 1998 with a few hundred participants running a route downtown Kingston past the previous location of Pan Caribbean’s headquarters, has now become one of the largest in the Caribbean and provides well needed relief to a number of charitable organizations in Jamaica.

At today’s event, the National Health Fund, another partner of the event, in addition to over 100 corporate groups and private support, facilitated Pan Caribbean’s handover of over J$15,000,000 to the Victoria Jubilee Hospitals, Neo Natal unit.

Reggae Marathon and the Jamdammers Running Club, along with a special team from Pan Caribbean and parent company Sagicor, provided excellent race support. Race Director, Alfred “Frano” Francis applauded Pan Caribbean’s example of good corporate citizenship, “in a addition to highlighting the importance of a healthy lifestyle amongst corporate Jamaica and providing great support to deserving charities.  We are already looking forward to a bigger and greater event in 2012 !”

Until next time…
