Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Races

Just one of the great things about Negril

It was a great long weekend on the beach with the kids.  I couldn’t keep them out of the water and I had a devil of a time getting the sun block on them.  “That’s what you get for having 3 boys” my Mom noted with a smile on her face.  That was more than 15 years ago in Negril when we stayed at FootePrints on the Beach but the memories linger and get stronger with time.

Fast-forward a whole bunch of years to Negril 2010.  I was back at FootePrints with one of the boys, now grown into a young man.  He’d come down to run in the Reggae Marathon ½ Marathon and insisted on staying at FootePrints.  He wanted to re-visit the old memories.

We had a blast!  Not so much old memories … we created some new ones.  He got a real chuckle watching his ‘old man’ partying Saturday afternoon after the Reggae Marathon.  Thankfully there were no pictures…no Facebook embarrassment!

That’s one of the great things about small, family-owned and run hotels on the beach in Negril.  The intimacy just seems to be closer to the laid-back vibe that Negril is famous for.  And there is no shortage of boutique-style hotels to choose from.  Just check this Accommodation link on the Reggae Marathon web site to go directly to many of the hotels on the beach.  And what’s especially useful is that the distance to the start/finish area is included.  Very handy.

No matter the choice, one of the great things about Negril is that there is something to satisfy just about everyone.

Until next time…
