As plans unfold for the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Reggae Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K, organizers, the Jamdammers Running Club of Kingston have announced the updating and re-launch of the event’s website which the Club says is now “better equipped to provide current information that is easy to access and more user friendly for prospective participants.” Jamdammers president Emile Leiba also notes that when the event began 10 years ago, “most of the participants were international, however, with people showing an increasing interest in adopting a healthy lifestyle, the split between local and international participants is now about 50/50.” He said the event “continues to rely heavily on the website to attract and maintain contact with Reggae runners and walkers both locally and internationally.” Visitors to the revamped site will be greeted with a “fresh, new look and improvements in navigation and accessibility which are superior to that of the old site,” Leiba added. The emphasis on “functionality, ease and the provision of links for the growing social network audience, using Facebook and Twitter” is also expected to contribute to a pleasant viewing experience for visitors. Celebrity marathoner and reputed blogger Chris Morales is also on board with the Reggae Marathon team to provide perspective via his blogs. A Canadian-Jamaican, Morales participated in the event in 2009 in memory of his father and to raise money for diabetes. |
