Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Races

A few of our favourites so far from the London Olympics

The perfect trifecta this week for Jamaicans.  First, today is Emancipation Day!  Celebrations and ceremonies throughout the island today.  Second, next Monday, August 6 we celebrate Independence Day…and a special one at that:  the 50th Anniversary of our Independence.  And to to top it off, we are heading into the Olympic Track & Field events this weekend:  August 4 and 5 for the sprints!  I’ll be eating my Wheaties and getting my runs in early so as not to miss an of the action.

And at 5 days into the London 2012 Olympics a few images have already risen to the top. Here are a few of our favourites:

“100% Jamaican by Association”.  Every Jamaican on the planet shared a moment of pride as Usain Bolt led the Jamaican Olympic team into the stadium last Friday night.  And of course, all the Jamaicans-by-association were right there as well.

I just love this fashion statement made by Reggae Marathon Race Director Frano.  Especially the tie.  No really, the tie is the stroke of genius Frano.  True fashionistas of course may disagree but this is Stylin’!

Just having some fun.  I can only imagine the incredible feeling brought on by screaming fans and paparazzi everywhere.  Usain stopping to engage with was a nice move.  Definitely

ready for London!

A brilliant marketing campaign!  Tough to miss in London even with all the Olympic messages and images.

A time like this only comes along once in a generation. Enjoy the week.  Celebrate safely.

Until next time…
