Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Races

Bonnie Fowler’s Reggae Marathon Race Re-Cap

Bonnie Fowler is a pretty special runner.  All runners are special of course but Bonnie goes a step further: she makes sure that no runner gets left behind.  At her first Reggae Marathon last week, she and about 30 runners from the Toronto, Canada area came to run and have fun.  They seemed to accomplish both goals.  Check out her Reggae Marathon race re-cap:

Reggae Marathon Race Report – What are the odds of all 40 people having a GREAT time? It was fantastic! Don’t get disappointed in the shirt, it is not a technical shirt, its cotton…..however being Jamaica it seemed to make sense.

The race expo there only had three booths but the pasta party meal was free, and the food good. The race started at 5:15 am.  It was still dark and the beginning of the race was lit up by torches. There was a race for everyone, a 10K, Half and a Full marathon. There was music every mile and the energy was amazing. The streets were lined with people cheering us on. The water stations handed out bagged cold water and sports drinks, just bite, nip or tear the plastic pouch, then sip and run!

The funniest part was towards the end of the race we somehow shared the road with vehicles, they could not close down the road completely because they had to get the buses to the airport. However, even though Jamaicans are known for being crazy drivers they were all very courteous!

At the end we were fueled with Red Stripe Beer or a fresh coconut cut open in front of you! I think it was one of the best races I have ever run, and am already planning a return visit for 2014!!!

Bonnie, we saw your Reggae Rebels in their T Shirts before, during and after the race Saturday.  You guys looked great!  I’m looking forward to seeing you again at Reggae Marathon on December , 2014.

Until next time…
