Once a runner always a runner

Once a runner always a runner

Once a runner always a runner.

As far as I can tell, once the love of running hits, a runner will make it through any hardship to go out for a run.  A few aches and pains won’t deter a runner.  Weather not cooperating?  Never mind the rain, I was going to get wet anyway.

When running becomes an obsession it helps to have friends and family who understand.  Posting selfies of workouts can lead them to believe you only have one thing on your mind.  That’s true of course since runners always find a way to incorporate running into a conversation.

One day we won’t be able to run.  For runners that’s a nightmare.  I put myself to sleep some nights thinking about the early morning run the next morning.  I’ll be woken from a deep sleep if I have a dream in which I can’t run.  No…that day will never come!

Once you’ve experienced the runner’s high the finish becomes an anti climax.  If it’s a race event you’ve focused all your energy on, the finish line emotion is sweet.  It fades though usually into a very pleasant memory.  The pain recedes as the memory grows stronger.  It’s why we keep running.

Yes, once a runner, always a runner.  Keep sharing your stories…they are always interesting, inspiring and fun!

Until next time…
