Partying and running…the best way to beat the summer doldrums

I’m in the doldrums.  6 months!  It’s been 6 months since Reggae Marathon 2010 and the memories have faded.  It’s just less than 6 months to Reggae Marathon 2011 and the excitement hasn’t started to build yet.   What to do to get through the lazy, hazy days of summer?

While driving in the car this past weekend, I confessed this to my wife Sally.  As usual she listened patiently before offering the obvious advice:  “Loosen up and party a little…it’s summer!”

Party and running…now that’s the answer.  My good friend Bob Moore from the Washington Running Report would agree heartily.  His recipe for the Reggae Marathon combines equal parts running and partying…you’ll find him again this December holding court on the beach in Negril.

The perfect combination of partying and running happens on the weekend of June 18 and 19 in Kingston.

On Saturday, June 18 to kick off the party season, the Jamdammers are holding their annual summer party “2011 Party Marathon” at the Constant Spring Golf Club.  See below for more details or check out them out online:  Jamdammers Running Club.

Then on Sunday, June 19 show your true grit and join the ‘Everyone’s a winner’ running event at Hope Gardens.  Check out this short video or visit Running Events online.

Party on Saturday with the Jamdammers, run on Sunday at Everyone’s a Winner…I can’t think of a better weekend to get me out of my doldrums.

Until next time…
