Silver Bird Steel Orchestra at the Reggae Marathon Pasta Party

I’m packed and ready to go.  I’ve checked and re-checked the airline tickets.  I’ve obsessed over the weather forecast for Saturday morning:  comfortable in the low 70’s F for the 5:15 am start.  And don’t ask how many times I’ve re-packed my running gear.  Yes, I’m totally pumped for the Reggae Marathon in Negril just days away now.

Friday night at the Reggae Marathon Pasta Party at the Couples Swept Away Sporting Complex is going to be great and I’m looking forward to talking with you.  On Friday afternoon after picking up my race kit, I’ll be at the Media Tent just inside the entrance from 3 pm on.  Stop by and say hi.

Later on Friday evening, it’s Pasta Party Time! Great food and excellent entertainment sums up the Reggae Marathon Pasta Party experience.  Again this year, The “SILVER BIRD STEEL ORCHESTRA” originating from Kingston, Jamaica, who won gold medals at the recent “World Championship of the Performing Arts” held in Hollywood will be performing.

Made up of youths of the inner-city, “Silver Bird” has been a regular performer on the hotel circuit for many years. Members of the Band originate from communities such as Arnett Gardens, Waterhouse, Seaview, August Town and Spanish Town and regularly perform at the Sandals, Beaches, Couples and Riu hotel chains.  They havealso been the featured performers at the annual Reggae Marathon Pasta Party since inception, in addition to providing live music for Reggae Marathon participants on Race Day.

The teamwork and support that brought them to the top of the championship, is a simple yet every day way of life for the band members. One member noted, “Should the rest of the country work together as we do, we would have paradise right here in Jamaica”.

“Silver Bird” has intentions of touring the world, spreading the message of love and unity while displaying excellent performing and musical skills. Dean Barnett is the manager and director of this group of talented individuals and he can be contacted for engagements c/o   [email protected]

Music, food, run, beach…all the things that make up a memorable Reggae Marathon race weekend.  See you Friday.

Until next time…
