It rained Friday night at the Reggae Marathon Pasta Party but it did not dampen the vibe. In fact at the press briefing that evening the buzz intensified because we all had to jam into the media tent.
One of the people I had the opportunity to meet was Olympian Carrie Tollefson. She and her husband were in Negril for the Reggae Marathon of course (she ran in the 10 K). I loved the opportunity to rub shoulders with a running celebrity and she was truly gracious. Only after I got back home and had the opportunity to check her out online did I get a sense of who she really was: professional runner, mother, all-round cool person.
Carrie and her husband did a bang-up job in producing a video on her experience in Negril at last December’s Reggae Marathon. It’s worth checking out:
I have a ‘really weak’ connection to Carrie and Minneapolis: I’ve run in and around the streets, parks and lakes in the Minneapolis area when I travelled there on business for International Dairy Queen. She would have left me in her dust if we had crossed paths.
Until next time…
