Entrants in this year’s Reggae Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K which takes place on December 6 in Negril, are being reminded that they can now register for the event on-line.
“With on-line registration, participants both at home and abroad can book their place early and we urge them to do so at their convenience as it is easier and less stressful. Once they register before July 31, they will be able to benefit from the early bird rates. Entry fees will increase on August 1,” says Race Director Alfred “Frano” Francis.
He said that those who register early can also “take advantage of the discounted rates offered by some hotels and guest houses as participating properties are always the first to have all their rooms fully booked.” Those who are interested can book their accommodation through Divine Tours
With just over 160 training days left before the marathon event, Francis is urging all Reggae Marathon participants to “plan and stick to a fitness routine that works best for you. With a road race being run in Jamaica almost every weekend these days, our country is fast becoming the fitness capital of the Caribbean. This means that fitness enthusiasts have a lot of opportunities to improve their physical condition and their time as they prepare for the big race in December.”
Participants are reminded that the minimum age for entry in the event is 18 years old for the full marathon, 14 years old for the Half Marathon, and 10 years old for the 10K. All entrants are encouraged to get a medical examination before beginning any fitness programme.
On-line registration closes midnight Tuesday, December 2, 2014. Mailed entries must be postmarked November 28, 2014. For further information, please visit www.reggaemarathon.com.
