Margaret and her 13th Reggae Marathon

That’s Margaret from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area after she successfully completed her Reggae Marathon Half Marathon last Saturday.  We met her on the beach as we were leisurely walking barefoot in the surf back to our hotel. And as runners often do, we got talking…

Margaret was in Negril for her 13th consecutive Reggae Marathon race event.  That’s right, she ran in the very first Reggae Marathon back in 2001 and has been at every Reggae Marathon since then.  She’s a longtime runner, enjoyed her first race and over the years when she has come to Jamaica has traveled around the island.  “I’ve fallen in love with Jamaica” she noted.

Margaret has a thing for 13.  She commented, “In 2013 this is my 13th Reggae Marathon and I’m travelling home on Friday, December 13”.  Lucky 13…now that has a great ring to it!

We asked her if she would be back for Reggae Marathon 2014, which would make it her 14th consecutive Reggae Marathon.  She smiled, “Of course”.  We look forward to seeing you in Negril again next year Margaret.

Until next time…
