Postcard from Moscow: Reggae Marathon at the IAAF World Championships

Team Reggae Marathon has been in Moscow at the IAAF World Championships this week supporting both Jamaica and the Reggae Marathon.  Seeing lightning strike twice during the Men’s 100 M Final last Sunday was electrifying (couldn’t resist the pun).  From Diane here is her Postcard from Moscow:

I haven’t taken any of the touristy shots as yet, but the images of Moscow are indelible in mind in addition to the experiences we have each day, meeting the locals on the daily trek to the stadium.

This photo above sums up a lot of our experiences here:  Electrifying!  Walking from the Stadium with Frano carrying our flag and 3 out of 4 of our little group wearing the national colours, we stopped traffic!   Everyone was honking, waving and yelling.  This was amazing as Russians are reserved and rarely smile or acknowledge you and before long, one honk and wave became a tsunami effect with the usually stone faced security turning a blind eye.

There’s more action and excitement to come this week with a really special athlete to look out for:  Thursday in the the 800 M Heats it’s the first appearance of Natoya Goule, a product of Reggae Marathon & the Grand Prix series at World Competition level.   Exciting for sure…won’t miss it!  Thanks for sharing this little taste of the Moscow Experience.    We will be glued to the action this upcoming weekend.

Until next time…
