I began my running career just over 2 years ago. Prior to that I had been exercising 3-4 times a week but was looking for something different to do. I heard about the Running Room and thought maybe I could run, after all I ran relays way back in Public School so why not now. So about 2 months before I turned 56 I decided to sign up for the Learn to Run Program and have never looked back. I progressed through the Learn to Run, 5K, 10K and eventually the Half Marathon Clinic. I have run in numerous 5K and 10K races (finally broke the 1 hours mark) and will be completing my third Half Marathon at the end of May.
I am sure that most people consider running an individual sport but I have found that is really not the case. Since I started I have met so many inspiring people and made lasting friendships. If you are going to go out and beat the pavement what better way could there be than to run with friends. It certainly makes the time fly and you learn so much about people. I could not have achieved my successes without the help of all the runners I have met along the way.
I will be signing up for the Marathon Clinic next so who knows, maybe I can add the Marathon to my running resume.
That’s what we mean by the ‘Running Community’. Colleen, we’re looking forward to meeting and running with you this December in Negril, Jamaica.
Until next time…
