How to beat the running doldrums

Low motivation to run got you down?  Disappointed with a recent race finish?  Had a DNF?  As a long-time runner I’ve had all of the above.

I was speaking with a good friend and seasoned runner recently and he noted that in a long running career we all go through running doldrums.  I asked him for his suggestions on how to get through those tough running episodes. “Medals…more precisely, setting a race event goal and working to achieve the Finisher Medal”.  From the Reggae Marathon Finishers Medal above to those below, running for the medal is a great way to beat the running doldrums.

Springfield, Illinois Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon.  This one is way cool.

Boston 2014.  Special.

Disney…Goofy.  Great looking all the same.

Motor City here we come!

Plan for a medal and get your running back on track.

Until next time…
