Reggae Marathon at the ING New York City Marathon

I wish I could be at be at the ING New York City Marathon Expo with the Reggae Marathon  gang this week.  Unfortunately a little thing called ‘work’ kept me away. I’ll just have to live vicariously through updates from Diane and the Reggae Marathon team.  Stop by the booth and say hi.  And tell them what you think of the new Reggae Marathon medals…I love the new design!

Make sure you stop by the Puma booth as well.  Puma Running are showing off their new minimalist running shoes plus they’re giving away a trip for two to the 2011 Reggae Marathon.  Cool!

I love race expos!  At my last expo after I picked up my registration kit…and spent a few minutes looking through the goodies and checked out the T shirt…I spent a ton of time visiting all the booths.  The truth be told, I loved the free samples. I couldn’t get enough of the nutrition bars that one vendor gave out generously.

I also spent more than my fair share of time at the Gatorade booth.  They distributed sample packs of their pre and post-race drink products.  I’ve kept the samples will use them December 4 in Negril at the  Reggae Marathon.   Not that I have to worry about hydration during the Reggae Marathon of course:  the bagged water and Gatorade at each and every mile aid station does the trick.

I also checked out all the new running shoes.  I was especially interested the ‘minimalist’ shoes that were supposed to mimic barefoot running.  That and Chi running were the big topics in my running club this year and I have been adjusting my running style to improve my enjoyment and reduce injuries.  I’d love to hear your opinion on this.

And of course, I wandered through the expo hall and talked to other runners.  Some folks like fashion shows or auto shows…I love race expos.

I know Diane and the entire Reggae Marathon team will be working hard at the booth in New York talking to runners about the Reggae Marathon.  See you all in Negril in 4 weeks!

Until next time…
