Reggae Marathon Volunteers…some of whom are in the photo above…got to experience racing from the other side last week. The event was the Guardian Group/UHWI inaugural “Keep it Alive” 5K Night Run in New Kingston. These tireless individuals who meet us at the Registration and take care of us every mile along the race route were on the Reggae Marathon Team sponsored by Running Events Ltd.
But there was t more…
The Reggae Marathon Team was led by Race Director Frano. Frano was participating in his first 5K, post recovery from last December’s illness! (That Frano on the left sporting race bib #1884). The 5K run was in aid of the UHWI (University Hospital of the West Indies ) where Frano spent approx 10 days in Intensive care followed by much longer recuperation and therapy. He wanted to give back to the institution which provided such excellent care when it was most needed!
Until next time…
