Standing on the beach in Negril, Jamaica on the western tip of the island, 90 miles separates you from the nearest point of land, Cuba. The map above shows the town of Negril in the Parish of Westmorland but the Beach Strip stretches for miles along the coast. With a barrier reef a mile or so out from the shore, wave action is generally much more gentle than beaches without that protection. Combined with the fine, white sand, Negril makes for almost perfect warm weather vacationing. Toss in Reggae Marathon and it’s a true ‘Run-cation’. That’s where Negril is!
With a few months to go till we are all back together for Reggae Marathon 2014, I was pining for some pictures. These did the trick for me…hopefully they’ll do the same for you.
This is an un-retouched picture of one section of the beach in Negril. Much of the beach is clear with a gentle slope…you can wade out a fair distance before it’s too deep to stand.
Sunset in Negril is the perfect place to ‘perfect’ your picture taking skills. Take lots of photos, upload to Instagram and Facebook…your friends back home will want to join you in the Capital of Casual.
This is my hammock. Don’t even think about jumping in. A cold Red Stripe in one hand and a hot patty in the other…I’m looking forward to recovering from Reggae Marathon 2014 right here.
Until next time…
