Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Races

7 Months to Reggae Marathon

7 months to Reggae Marathon.  OK, 7 months plus a few days but hey, who’s counting!

Starting 7 months today though runners begin arriving for Reggae Marathon 2015 on December 5.  This is a good thing.  Given that many come from colder climates, getting to Negril a few days ahead of the race gives you the chance to get even a little adjusted to running in warmer temperatures.  Get in a few early morning runs before breakfast and then enjoy a leisurely day lounging on the beach.  Oh wait…that’s what I do!

This is the 15th anniversary of Reggae Marathon.  It’s been held in Negril every year since 2001 on the same stretch of road, Norman Washington Boulevard that runs along the white sand beach strip. This is where many of the hotels and resorts are located.  If you still haven’t booked your hotel yet, this link takes you to a listing of Negril hotels and includes approximate distances from the Start/Finish area:  Negril Hotels.

Reggae Marathon begins and ends at Long Bay Beach park and as it’s name suggests, it’s a beach. Immediately outside the post-race area is the warm Caribbean Sea.  A favourite ritual is to run into the sea in your running gear after getting your Finisher’s Medal.  And then share them on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter!  In the photo below, Rohan and his fellow runners from Quicksilver Striders and approaching the Finish…

14th. Annual Reggae Marathon

It’s easy to register for Reggae Marathon.  Early Bird registration fees for all three race events are still available:  Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K. Follow this link to register now:  Reggae Marathon 2015 Registration.

So with 7 months to go, I’m looking forward to some summertime running to get in shape for Reggae Marathon. See you in Negril December 5!

Until next time…
