Blindness is not a barrier for Jennifer Herring. She’s legally blind but that has not stopped her from running and racing. Look out for her this April in Boston when she lines up for her 12th consecutive Boston Marathon.
Jennifer took up running early. Like most of us she hated gym class but loved the days when she got to run track. That love continues to this day. Blindness has not been a barrier for Jennifer.
Jennifer also uses her ability to raise money for Team with a Vision that raises money to send children with visual impairments to a special summer camp. Here’s more on this inspiring runner: Jennifer Herring, Runner!
Blindness is not a barrier for someone closer to the Reggae Marathon world, Jamaica’s Senator Floyd Morris, President of the Jamaican Senate. Senator Morris became legally blind at age 17 and has fought his entire life to overcome challenges.
Senator Morris is also a runner. He has been a regular participant in road races in Jamaica and in 2013 was the Patron of the Everyone’s A Winner Best Dressed Chicken Race Series. Here’s more on another inspiration: Senator Floyd Morris Overcoming Blindness.
I draw inspiration from both Jennifer Herring and Senator Morris. Barriers are meant to be broken!
Until next time…
