Bob’s Mile at Reggae Marathon

How many other marathons start you off with Bob Marley's music at 5:15 am and reward you at mile 25 with inspirational sayings?  That's Reggae Marathon.  After 24 miles, look out for the big sign on the side of the road at mile 25 indicating you’ve reached 'Bob's Mile'.  You have only 1.2 miles to the Reggae Marathon Finish at Long Bay Beach Park and you’ll have Bob Marley with you every step of the way. I have encountered it twice. It is a very welcome sight.  Bob keeps you company for the rest of the way with other motivational message

s.  Watch out for them.

And there's more: if you are a mid-pack runner like I am, at about 1/2 mile from the finish you’ll pick up the Reggae Marathon announcer at the finish line.  Let me tell you, that is a major motivator and keeps the legs moving.  As well, runners who have finished ahead of shout encouragement as they walk back to their hotels.

Look out for Mile 25 at Reggae Marathon…Bob’s Mile.  It will be hard not to start humming, ‘One Love’ as you head to the finish.

Until next time…
