Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Races

Did you enjoy the 10th Annual Reggae Marathon?

We had a blast!  Even the rain Friday night and into early Saturday morning couldn’t dampen our spirits for the 10th annual Reggae Marathon last Saturday in Negril.

As usual the race started promptly on time at 5:15 am. I had a really special reason to run again this year as my son came to run his first 1/2 marathon.  He and I walked over to the start area at Long Bay Beach Park with a new friend and fellow runner who was also staying at our hotel.  He was from Japan,  in his mid-70’s and had traveled from all that distance especially to run in the Reggae Marathon.  He couldn’t speak much English and I can’t speak Japanese but we communicated through the shared language of running.  I’ll share more of his story in a future post.

The Reggae Marathon is special.  Each and every one of the stories we heard this year were about just how special it is.  The Reggae Marathon is one of the best vents in the world in terms of runner care and it runs along one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.  For a runner it doesn’t get much better than that:  a great vacation combined with an excellent run.

I’ll be sharing some of our stories from this year’s Reggae Marathon in upcoming posts.  I’d love to hear your story.  Please leave a comment on the blog or send me an email by clicking the contact tab on the Reggae Marathon web site.

Ahh...Coconut wata taste good!

Oh, and yes, this is what it looks like to enjoy a coconut water after the Reggae Marathon.

Until next time…
