When training for a marathon or half-marathon, it’s important to incorporate rest days into your training plan. A rest day allows your mind and body time to recover and repair. Sometime the mental aspects of training are more harder on our bodies than the physical.
Rest Days are important for all of the following
- Injury Prevention
- Mental Performance
- Muscle Recovery
- Running Performance
And during your rest days feel free to do some light cross training. Go for a walk, hop in the pool for some laps, or go for a bike ride. Or, you can choose to do nothing if that’s what you want! It’s your rest day after all.
