Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Races

It’s not the Medal!

It’s not the medal!  It’s the experience:  The beach, the run, the people…and of course…the Medal!  OK, we’ll stand corrected:  It’s the Medal!

Yes the Finisher Medal is important…this December 2 will make it my 10th consecutive Reggae Marathon Finisher Medal assuming all goes well.  But running any of the the Reggae Marathon events, the Full Marathon, Half Marathon or 10K is special from start to finish.  It’s a run though and all of us will experience the usual physical and mental challenges as we make it around the flat, Reggae Marathon paved road course.

In addition to the Finisher Medal, there’s the Reggae Marathon Pasta Party Saturday night at Couples Swept Away Sporting Complex.  Pasta stations set up around the perimeter serving up freshly made pasta and fixings…the Negril area hotel chefs and their teams do a great job!  Fill up on carbos and enjoy the entertainment under the stars.

Then there’s the torch light start race day on the road at Long Bay Beach Park.  The 5:15 am race starts means a 3:30 am latest rise and shine.  I like early mornings but it takes some caffeine to get me going with so much time to sunrise.

After collecting your medal, there’s the post race party.  Hydration, music, and even a beach-side massage.  All essential especially after a warm weather race.

The topper:  the refreshing dip in the Caribbean after.  From start to finish, everyone gets to experience the refreshing Caribbean at Reggae Marathon..

Reggae Marathon is more than just a Finisher Medal.  It’s is all of the above!  A destination race in Negril, Jamaica; A 5:15 am torch light start; A finish right on the white sand beach; The change to make new friends and catch up with old ones.  Reggae Marathon…what an experience!

Until next time…
