Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Races

Jane Snider’s Second Home

Jane Snider’s second home is Jamaica…she and her husband have been coming to Jamaica regularly for the past 20 years!  Jane is also a runner and this December 2 will be her first time at Reggae Marathon:

“I am from Midland, Michigan which is almost in the center of the State.  I started running at the age of 50. I am now 61.

I’m a huge fan of the TV show Survivor. After I applied to be a contestant on the show, I thought I better get on shape. I was appalled when I found out I couldn’t even run for even 5 minutes. So, I started slow with run/walk.  Since then I have run 2 marathons, 4 half marathons, and several 5 and 10ks. For the past couple of years I have been competing in triathlons.
My husband and I have been coming to Jamaica several times a year for the past 20 years. My family considers Jamaica our second home. So, naturally the Reggae marathon is #1 on my bucket list.

I have wanted to do this race for years, but the date never worked out. This year, I decided to make the date work!  In June I ran the Midnight Sun run in Iceland. I thought it would be an amazing contrast to run Iceland and Jamaica in the same year. My husband, David, is running with me.  It will be his first!

I am not a competitive runner. To me, running is about the journey.  It’s my meditation and thinking time. Races that I choose are all about the destination and the experience, which is why the Reggae Half Marathon is the perfect event for me!”

Jane, we look forward to welcoming you and David back this December to your second home and first time at Reggae Marathon!

Until next time…
