Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Races

Karin: She came, ran and had fun at Reggae Marathon!

For Karin Wilson-Edmonds, this was her second time at Reggae Marathon.  And this time she ran! That’s her, 3rd from left above after completing the 10K at Reggae Marathon.

Back at Reggae Marathon 2012, she and her hubby Christopher made the trip from home in Kingston and had a wonderful time vacationing on the Negril beach.  They caught the Reggae Marathon ‘runner vibe’ and were back for Reggae Marathon 2013…this time determined to walk the 10K. And they came with family who they convinced to walk with them in the Reggae Marathon 10K.  We caught up with Karin recently:

unnamedReggae Marathon:  Was this your first time at Reggae Marathon?  If so, what race did you enter and why.

KarinWilson-Edmonds:  Yes, this was our first time actually participating. we went down to Negril the year before (2012) but were only spectators. In 2013 we entered the 10K determined to participate even if only to walk.  I walked half the race about 5k and ran half, running the most I’d run in a long long time! We had a bit of a family reunion in Negril too, meeting up with friends and family in Negril for the race.

RM:  How did you like getting up on Saturday morning for the 5:15 am start?

KWE:  Getting up at 3:30 am was the hardest part!!  The first hour in the dark was a bit surreal but it had a fun/party atmosphere to it in a strange way. My husband said it was like Carnival without the rum!

RM:  Why did you choose to run/walk in Reggae Marathon?

KWE:  The Reggae Marathon is a fun way to get out and exercise, enjoy being with friends and family plus the beach in Negril is a HUGE bonus!!! No better way to recuperate after!

RM:  How did you find the Pasta Party?

KWE:  The Pasta Party was great! Good food…stocking up on the carbs for sure helped the next morning. The pan music was great too!

RM:  How did you enjoy the Post-Race Party?

KWE:  The ‘after party’ was also an unexpected surprise with all the racers hanging out and socializing on the beach with coconut water and Red Stripe! the concert was a nice touch too!

RM:  Would you recommend Reggae Marathon to other runners/walkers?

KWE:  I would 100% recommend Reggae Marathon to others – a great way to get in shape and enjoy Jamaica! also a great way to meet up with friends and family to enjoy a little holiday in the sun!

Karin, we are expecting you back at Reggae Marathon December 6, 2014.  Bring all of Kingston with you!

Until next time…
