Keith Simpson is The Alphabet Runner. He’s a man on a mission and an unusual one at that. You see, Keith is running 26 Marathons in aphabetical order. He recently completed his ‘N’ Marathon, the Novi Sad Midnight Marathon. For the rest of this year he has Ostrava, Podgorica, Queenstown, Reggae Marathon and San Silvestro. Yes, he chose our own Reggae Marathon for his ‘R’ Marthon. We’ll all line up with him on December 5 as he continues his quest to run 26 marathons in alphabetical order. Wow! Looking forward to running with him in Negril.
“For my first 64½ years I didn’t run a marathon, nothing unusual in that for most people” noted Keith. Over the next 18 months I ran 12, which certainly is unusual”, he added.
Keith is a retired Physics Teacher who initially started running to get and stay fit and to reduce stress. We certainly understand that. And he’s a pretty good runner as well with a Half Marathon time of 1:44:26 in Brussels and a sub-4 hour Marathon in Instanbul, 3:51:27, both last year. Two weeks before he gets to Negril for Reggae Marathon he plans to knock off the ‘Q’ marathon in Queenstown, New Zealand. Would love to get his frequent flyer miles…the hours in airplanes not so much.
We get runners from all over the world every year who make the trek to Negril for Reggae Marathon. Most years we get runners from over 30 countries and this year will be no different. Keith may be the most unique runner we’ve had at Reggae Marathon though and we’re looking forward to trading running stories when we meet up with him this December.
We really do meet the best people from around the world at Reggae Marathon!
Until next time…
