Martina Christian from Kingston, Jamaica loves running. She started running in 2010 at Reggae Marathon where she ran the Reggae Marathon 10K. But let’s hear from her directly:
I started running in 2010 when I ran my first ever 10K at Reggae Marathon! I’ve been coming back every year since! I’ve done the 10K three times, the Half Marathon three times as well and am attempting the Full Marthon this year.
Like most people I started running initially to lose weight, but started doing road races as a fun way to spend time with my friends. It has since then evolved as a therapeutic way to push and challenge myself both mentally & physically. I’ve completed 4 full marathons since 2017.
I heard about Reggae Marathon from friends who had done it before and encouraged me to do it back in 2010.
Reggae marathon is hands down my favorite running event, I look forward to it every year as a great way to spend spend a fun weekend time with my friends. The ambiance and the vibes from the bib pickup, pasta party and race day event is well organized. This year I will be doing it with a group as usual. With my teammates doing the 10k, the 1/2 Marathons and myself and 2 others the Full Marathon.
Martina has been a busy runner as well. Over the past 18 months she’s completed 5 marathons with a PB of 3:57. Recently she completed 2 back-to-back marathons (24 hrs apart) in 2 states, Utah & Colorado. Now that’s intense! Here’s Martina in Miami:
Martina is currently challenging herself to complete the Full Marathon at Reggae Marathon this December with a PB. Keep us updated on your training Martina. We’re looking forward to seeing you again in Negril, Martina. Thanks for sharing your running story.
Until next time…
