Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Races

On the Road at Reggae Marathon

Like every other road race, Reggae Marathon runs over a closed road course in Negril, Jamaica.  Unlike any other race event, Reggae Marathon has a unique vibe that makes it truly a special experience.  First of all, we’re in Jamaica!  Warm tropical weather on one of the world’s best white sand beaches.  It’s a vacation after all.  But we’re here for the running and the running is very good!

2012 Reggae Marathon

Reggae Marathon has 3 running events:  Full Marathon (2 loops of our closed course), Half Marathon and 10K.  They all start together at 5:15 am from Long Bay Beach Park.  The turn points for each event are clearly marked and Race Marshals keep you on your selected course at the key points.  Bob’s Mile is a special point in the Half and Full Marathon: the Reggae Marathoner above has just passed the sign marking ‘Bob’s Mile’.  It’s a reference to Bob Marley and offers up words of encouragement to get you to the finish.

Running the Full or Half Marathon?  A cap is essential.  We have aid stations at every mile marker along the entire Reggae Marathon course.  Water and electrolyte fluids are available in convenient plastic pouches…no messy cups for Reggae Marathoners.

Along with water and electrolyte top-ups at each aid station, there’s music.  Reggae music of course…it wouldn’t be Reggae Marathon without LOUD Reggae Music along the course at every mile.

2012 Reggae Marathon

The Reggae Marathon course runs along the main highway in Negril.  The road is never far from the Negril beach and passes the main hotel strip in Negril.  We start and finish at Long Bay Beach park and it’s party before and after.  Loud Reggae at 4 am in the morning before the race; music and dancing on the beach after.  On the road in Negril at Reggae Marathon is…all right!

Until next time…
