Sally my wife says I spend more time in the digital world than the real world. She's mostly right but I remind her that's how I've met so many interesting runners…like Olympian Carrie Tollefson in the photo above. She also admits that the Reggae Marathon running vacation on the beach in Negril is 'pretty darn good'. Here are some of places and people I spend time with every day:
- On both their Facebook page and their blog, I find the articles on running, training and nutrition from Runners World very helpful. I generally check the Runners World Facebook page first thing in the morning. I hope to see you again this December Carrie.
- I connected with Olympian Carrie Tollefson at Reggae Marathon back in 2009. I watched her video from that year's race weekend a number of times throughout the following year! Some of my favorite episodes include her 2010 Reggae Marathon Race Report, her video on Chi Running and of course her Blooper Video that is hilarious.
- Jamaica is more than an island for sea and sun. Yes one of the big attractions of Reggae Marathon is combining a fantastic race event with a relaxing beach vacation but there is more to see and do…especially a little off the beaten path. Yardedge, published by Reggae Marathon first timer Karin Wilson-Edmonds is a great place to check out some of the more interesting happenings around Jamaica. I generall
y follow Yardedge on both Facebook and Twitter. Karin has committed to run/walking the 10K at Reggae Marathon 2012 so look out for her in Negril this December.
- Where would I be without the daily inspiration and motivation from Gibson's Daily Running Quotes. I follow them on both Facebook and Twitter. I especially like their Facebook updates that include a motivational or inspirational quote combined with a photo. Here's a popular Reggae Marathon blog post: Inspirational Running Quotes. Thanks guys.
- Accuweather. Most morning's I check the weather forecast for both home and Negril, Jamaica before I look out the window. Call me crazy…and Sally often does…but I am obsessed with the weather.
There are other online places that
I visit regularly as well but I don't want to confirm with Sally that I spend all of my time online. Plus it's time to go running!
Until next time…
