Out on the road at Reggae Marathon is a mythical experience. It gets more mythical as the years pass and the experiences grow. And it starts with fire!
It’s super early. It’s dark. The sunrise is over an hour away. We’re gathered on the road at Long Bay Beach Park behind the Start Line waiting for Race Director Frano to send us off promptly at 5:15 am. Then just before the start, the torches flare up along both sides of the road. The Reggae music gets louder and then we’re off with a blast from Frano’s horn.
Run to the music. There’s music along the road at Reggae Marathon…just about ever mile. Runners dancing while grabbing hydration.
And then there are the smiling faces. We seem to get more than our fair share of smiling runners on the road at Reggae Marathon. And we just love that!
And then there’s the Reggae Marathon post-race celebration. Reggae Marathon starts and finishes at Long Bay Beach Park. Right outside the Finish area the white sand of the miles-long Negril beach becons. Running into the refreshing Caribbean Sea, running gear and all wraps up the Reggae Marathon Experience.
We’re closing in 2 months to go to Reggae Marathon 2016, Sweet 16 to celebrate our 16th year. We hope to see you here in December. Reggae Marathon Registration: Sweet 16 Registration.
Until next time…
