(Kingston, Jamaica) – The Reggae Marathon has announced new appointments to its Board ahead of the highly anticipated 2026 staging of the event, which returns later this year, December 6, 2026, in Kingston.
Organised by the Jamdammers Running Club, Reggae Marathon remains Jamaica’s premier long-distance running event and continues to attract participants from across the world each year.
The Board appointments include Mrs Aileen Corrigan, who has been named Chair of the Reggae Marathon Board, alongside Kemroy Johnson, who will serve as a Director on the Board.
Corrigan assumes the role at an exciting time for the event as organisers prepare for the next chapter in the marathon’s evolution following its transition to Kingston last year. A passionate member of the running community and longtime supporter of the event, Corrigan is expected to help guide the continued growth and development of Reggae Marathon locally and internationally.
Also joining the Board as Director is Kemroy Johnson, former President of the Jamdammers Running Club. Johnson’s appointment follows a successful tenure leading the club, during which he played an active role in strengthening the organisation and supporting the continued success of Reggae Marathon. While the President of Jamdammers traditionally sits on the Reggae Marathon Board, Johnson has been retained as a Director in recognition of his leadership and contribution during his term as President.
Speaking on her appointment as Chair, Aileen Corrigan said Reggae Marathon is entering a new chapter built on a strong foundation established over many years in Negril, while embracing new opportunities in Kingston: “Reggae Marathon has always been more than a race; it is a celebration of Jamaica’s culture, community spirit, and love for long-distance running. I am honoured to step into this role at such a pivotal moment in the event’s journey. Negril will always remain central to the history and identity of Reggae Marathon, and we are deeply grateful for the support and memories built there over the years. As we cement our presence in our nation’s cultural and historical capital, we are focused on expanding the experience for runners and stakeholders while preserving the authenticity and spirit that define the event.”
Immediate Past Chair Ian Kelly welcomed the new appointments and said he looks forward to continuing to support the event as part of the Board: “Reggae Marathon continues to be an important event for Jamaica’s sporting and tourism landscape. Aileen has a longstanding connection to the event and the running community, and I believe her leadership will be a valuable asset as we continue preparations for this year’s staging and the future development of the Reggae Marathon.”
The 2026 Reggae Marathon will culminate with race day activities at the Kingston Waterfront on December 6, while organisers are also looking forward to hosting the event’s signature pre-race activities at the historic Devon House.
The organisation also acknowledged the contributions of past Board Chairs whose leadership helped shape Reggae Marathon into one of the Caribbean’s leading road racing events.
Past Chairs include:
● Richard Lake – 2001-2005 & 2012-2017
● Barclay Ewart – 2006-2012
● Ian Kelly – 2017-2026
Devon House will also be the designated venue for on-site registration and packet collection from December 5-6, 2026. Participants may also register online at www.reggaemarathon.com from now till December 3.
