Reggae Marathon race update from Race Director, Alfred Francis

Alfred “Frano” Francis, Race Director for the Reggae Marathon is ‘super pumped up’ about this year’s event in Negril.  And why not, Reggae Marathon is celebrating its 10th anniversary and it looks to be a fantastic event!

We caught up with Frano recently for an update on this year’s event.  “We are excited about the number of entries for Reggae Marathon 2010” Frano stated.  “Registered runners are coming from countries such as the USA, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Sweden… we’ll have a really diversified field this year” he continued.

In addition to the international participation, local excitement in Jamaica is at an all time high.  Frano noted that there have been an increased number of corporate entries and club teams running in this 10th anniversary Reggae Marathon event using it as a team building exercise.  That is a really cool idea that promotes better working relationships and healthy, active lifestyles.

The big news this year is the time and location of the Victory Party:  you can celebrate right at Long Bay Beach Park the site of the start and finish of all the events.  No excuse this year to miss the fun!

Frano added that “we appreciate the support from international and local sponsors, participants, supporters and friends… we are looking forward to a truly memorable 10th anniversary Reggae Marathon”.

We’ll be in Negril again this December to run the Reggae Marathon, to catch up with friends we met last year, and meet new ones.  Remember to check the Reggae Marathon Blog regularly, send us comments if you have questions and continue training… 42 days to go!

See you in Negril on December 4!

Until next time…
