We got the runs … on the road to Reggae Marathon.  ‘We Got The Runs’ in Kingston is back for Reggae Marathon 2015 and their Training Program has started.  Here are all the details:

WGTR is staging the second Road to Reggae Marathon 2015, a 12 week training programme from September 15 to December 5 that aims to get runners ready for the big race in on December 5. Persons who are training for the Marathon, Half-marathon or just want to run with a group can join one of three different running clubs every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday for scheduled runs in the Kingston and St. Andrew based on the recommended Reggae Marathon Training Programme with Saturday ‘long runs’ and shorter mid-week runs. The programme also includes swim training with the national coach Gillian Millwood every Monday at Campion College as a cross trianing element.

President of WGTR Andrew Walcott made it clear that while the club is hosting the programme, “anyone including non-members as well as members of other running clubs can join the programme and run with us. It’s all about getting fit and encouraging persons to accomplish feets they have never done before. The Reggae Marathon is the only Marathon in the island and an excellent opportunity for runners to check it off their bucketlist”. There is a minimal charge for the runs which goes towards patrol. The Saturday Long Runs will also be sponsored by Hi-Lyte to keep runners hydrated. Persons can register for the series for free at We Got The Runs and can recieve the Reggae Marathon ‘early bird’ discount when they join the programme and share the experience on social media using the hastag #RTRM2015.

Until next time…
