It’s been quite the weekend. An Olympic-sized weekend, pardon the pun.
On Saturday Shelly-Ann Fraser-Price and Veronica Campbell-Brown took Gold and Bronze in the Women’s 100 M. Yesterday Usain Bolt
and Yohan Blake electrified the world with their first and second place in the Men’s 100 M. I know I held my breath for those 9.63 seconds! I think I need a rest today. Just kidding…a good run early morning today on this the 50th Anniversary Independence of Jamaica will be special indeed.
And in the spirit of celebration, here are some recent favourite inspirational quotes:
This applies to pretty much everything in life. I’ve finished tough work assignments by slowing down to think first; tough races by simply slowing down.
A little controversial to be sure but a little tongue-in-cheek. The point of this is to get up, get the running gear on and get running!
The South Fulton Running Partners of Atlanta, Georgia know how to stir it up. And that they did with this one. They started in 1979 and are now the oldest Black running club in America. I particularly love their motto: fitness, fellowship and fun.
This inspiring quote from Gibson’s Daily Run Quotes has one particular line that grabbed me: “…never EVER give up…” Getting there just may take a little longer.
This one was just for fun. I could call it my personal motivation…keep running and maybe I too would look that good in a suit. OK, I just snapped out of my fantasy. Congratulations Usain and all the members of the Jamaica Olympic Team!
Until next time…
