Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Races

See you in 2016

See you in 2016 on the road and on the beach in Negril.  December 3 is race day but I’ll see you Friday evening at the Reggae Marathon Pasta Party and again on Sunday on the beach catching some rays and enjoying cold Red Stripes.  While Reggae Marathon 2015 has started to fade into another pleasant memory, here are some highlights:

  • The bus ride from Montego Bay to Negril was eventful.  A number of Reggae Runnerz were onboard a number of who had never been to Jamaica before.  Their excitement was palpable and infectious.  It reminded why I love Reggae Marathon so much.
  • First run on the beach in Negril…Sunrise…With a couple of friends who I meet up with in Negril each year.  I’ve run along beaches all over the world but nothing, absolutely nothing beats Negril
  • First breakfast in Negril. Immediately after a quick shower following the early morning run, it’s down to the beach-front restaurant for breakfast.  It’s been the same for 7 years now:  Ackee and Salftish washed down by bottomless cups of hot Blue Mountain coffee. I can smell and taste it right now…
  • Reggae Marathon Pasta Party.  Outside under the early evening sky.  Seemingly endless pasta and food stations;  Live entertainment;  Catching up with old friends…meeting new ones.
  • Reggae Marathon start.  Race Director Frano sends all of us off promptly at 5:15 am.  Pounding drums, loud Reggae, blazing torches.  My adrenelin pumps at all race starts but Reggae Marathon takes it up a notch.
  • Post race.  The highlight for me is heading out for a swim in the Caribbean Sea in my running gear. That’s the best!

RM Jan 13 blogRegistration for Reggae Marathon is open now for 2016:  Reggae Marathon 2016 Registration. See you in Negril December 3 for Sweet 16!

Until next time…
