I was once given sound advice when it comes to training for long distance races. Sleep trumps nutrition, trumps training. It made me think how true this is. Without getting a good night’s sleep, I’m very slow to move the first few miles of a training run. And without proper nutrition before, during and after a run, you will feel it during and after your run. Lastly, the training is the final piece that is needed for a successful training cycle.
