If you’ve been racing for a while, it’s likely that you have a pre-race ritual or a superstition. Some people like to wear the same socks, do a special drill before the gun sounds, or eat the same breakfast before each race.
While, I’m not superstitious about the clothing that I wear for a race, I do like to eat oatmeal before a race. What I like about oatmeal is that it is sold in small cups that make it easy to take when I travel for a race. All I have to do is add hot water and I’m good to go. If I am running a marathon, I try to eat a banana too just to give myself some extra calories and potassium to prevent cramps. It’s simple and it sustains me
