Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Races

7 days to Reggae Marathon 2011: Bring sunscreen

Negril is the 'capital of casual' and it wears that title proudly.  While there are lots of non-beach activities including golf and tours, the beach is the big draw for me.  And that leads to enjoying the sunshine as frequently and as long as I can.

Bring sunscreen!

After you pack your running and beach gear, make sure to toss in sunscreen.  Don't cheap out on the low UV or no-name stuff.  I have and it's not worth it.  The sun is intense both on the beach and in the water in Negril and to enjoy it safely make sure you apply sunscreen liberally throughout the day.

If you're running the 10K or 1/2 Marathon you won't need to apply sunscreen for the run but for full Reggae Marathon you&#039

;ll want to.  Especially if like me you're a mid-pack runner.  Waterproof sunscreen works well.

So, bring sunscreen.   A sunburn is the last think you want to 'declare at customs' on your way back home.

Until next time…
