Are you a runner? If you get up early in the morning to go for a run, you’re a runner. If you skip lunch to go for a run, you’re a runner. If you come home and go for a run before supper, you’re a runner! Fast or slow, if you overcome the inertia and urge to procrastinate and go out for a run, you’re a runner! Here’s a little inspiration to get you over that hump from Gibson’s Daily Running Quotes:
“The greatest gift that running has given me—after continuing health, a daily visit to my interior life, and a warm feeling for everyone else who enjoys the sport—is what might be called a sympathy for physiology. Not in the poor-baby sense of sympathy, but in the isn’t-that-wonderful sense. The training effect itself—the body’s natural improvement in response to stress—is the most delicious small piece of physiology I know. I wouldn’t have learned about it if it weren’t for running.” – John Jerome, The Elements of Effort
“Challenging yourself to accomplish more than you know you can is never stupid—it helps show you what you are capable of. It creates a new frame of reference, one you can draw upon in the face of other things that are perceived as being tough in your life. It shows you possibilities you didn’t know existed.” – Joe De Sena, Spartan Up!: A Take-No-Prisoners Guide to Overcoming Obstacles and Achieving Peak Performance in Life.
