Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Races

Hello Annishia

Hello Annishia

Hello Annishia!

Reggae Marathoners, say hi to Annishia as well.  She and her family are coming to Negril this December for the 2019 Reggae Marathon:

I’m originally from August Town, St. Andrew, Jamaica. I emigrated to the U.S. at a young age. I was in the military so running was a constant part of my life. I’ve done a lot of 5Ks and a couple years ago was my first half marathon. In total, I’ve done 4 half marathons.

I saw a post about the Reggae Marathon on Facebook. I have an Uncle who works for UWI. I asked him about it because his job entails driving all over Jamaica. He told me that the Mmarathon is a big thing and that there’s a permanent billboard outside of UWI.

I chose Reggae Marathon because even though I didn’t really have much desire to complete a marathon, seeing that there’s one in my home country changed my mind. I would love to complete my first one there.

I’ll be coming with about 10 people. My fiancé, parents, grandmothers, cousins, and friends. My fiancé and I have been telling everyone we know about it so that we can all come and enjoy. I think my fiancé, a friend and I are the only three that will run the Marathon.  The rest will do the 10K. We’re excited about it!

Something else…I had a baby on December  22, 2018. I’m eager to start exercising again and the Reggae Marathon is the perfect goal. My baby will be there too! She’ll be with my family completing the 10K.

Annishia, thank you for sharing your story.  We’re less than 9 months to seeing you and all your family in Negril!

Until next time…
