Meet Melanie Johnson, coming to Reggae Marathon this December.
You can’t get much farther away from Jamaica than where Melanie and her Husband Greg live: Camas, Washington on the north west coast of America. But let’s hear from Melanie on why she, hubby and a couple of friends are coming back to Negril this December:
Greg and I started running consistently in various races in 2007 after our son was born. We both needed to lose the “baby weight”. I joined a workout group, Baby Boot Camp, and made some great connections with new mom’s who were also runners. Since we started running we’ve completed countless smaller races, a few triathlons and Greg has done 3 marathons.
Greg and I got married in 2005 and spent our honeymoon in Jamaica that December. As we left for home my husband said “We should come back and run it in 10 years!” Since then the Reggae Marathon has always been the race we would do to celebrate our 10th Anniversary. And here we are!
We’re staying again at Swept Away and are looking forward to a great 10 year anniversary celebration.
Our friends Aaron and Cindy Reiter are joining us this time. They are our close friends and training partners. They inspire us to stay fit and active. Aaron will be running his first marathon and Cindy will be doing the 10k.
We’re celebrating 10 years…Reggae Marathon celebrating 15 years. It’s going to be a fantastic time this December.
We look forward to meeting and running with you guys in Negril December 5!
Until next time…
