Running in the Rain

Running in the Rain

Running in the rain is a special treat.  Heck, I’m going to sweat anyway…what’s a little extra water.  For some crazy reason when I see that the weather forecast includes rain, I smile a little more broadly in anticipation.

Running in the rain has some benefits the biggest of which is helping you deal with adversity.  We all dream of the perfect race:  Ideal temperature, flat course, personal best.  No rookie mistakes.  Ah, but it is not always so!  On race day it is either too hot or too cold, windy, the course has a couple of hill surprises. Personal best?  Not that day!

That’s where running in the rain comes in.  The rain throws up extra challenges.  From dressing correctly to what shoes to wear for the slipperier conditions.  Your route in dry conditions changes character:  Water puddles become challenging obstacles, your focus shifts to your form as you concentrate on your footing.

For some tips on running in the rain, here’s an article:  Here’s why you should run in the rain.

Until next time…
