Seasoned runners showing the way at Reggae Marathon

I've been running for 30 years but compared to these runners I feel like a newbie.  Don't get me wrong…I'm not complaining.  I hope to be running for another 30 years and there is much to learn from these seasoned runners who come back year after year to run in the Reggae Marathon race weekend.

Lots to love

in this photo but I especially love the shoes.  OK, I confess, I have a running shoe fetish but hey, I know I am not alone.  True confession:  I've enjoy a nearly 2 year love affair with Puma since I discovered the Puma Faas line of running shoes.  The brighter the pattern the more I love them.  Sally my wife thinks it's hilarious. But they fit both my feet and my running style very well and as runners that's the most important thing.

One of the Running Girlz who have been to Reggae Marathon twice now.  For them it's a girls-only trip to Negril and Reggae Marathon and they have a ton of fun.

If you ever get the chance to speak with Burt Carlson who's been coming to Reggae Marathon for years you'll be amazed by his humility about his fantastic distance running accomplishments.  He really just loves to run.

One of the secrets to running that I've learned from seasoned runners is to stay healthy.  30 years ago I could hammer every run…heck I ran every day back then.  Now I've learned to start out slowly, monitor my pace, cool down properly and wait for it…incorporate rest days!  It's been a bumpy adjustment for sure but the motivation to keep running for another 30 years keeps me on track.

Until next time…
