Cramps. While it may not be the absolute worst thing that can afflict a runner during a race, getting a cramp does ‘put a cramp in the running’ (pun intented). Inadequate hydration and excessive heat…these are often trotted out as primary causes of cramping. And they may contribute but as is often the case, it depends. Performance Clothing. Are these ‘hi-tech’ undies, tops and bottoms really work for non-elite runners? It used to be just wicking sweat away but now we’ve got fabrics that promise to minimize sweat odour and protect runners from the sun: Performance wear for sweat and sun.
Nude Running. Is that really a ‘thing’? The answer is yes! Nude running is definitely a warm weather activity and not advisable in sub-zero temperatures. It may never catch on like barefoot or minimalist running did for a time…and it likely will never make it to the mainstream for obvious reasons. But if you do take up nude running, use sunscreen!
