Half Marathon, 10K & 5K Races

Less than 100 days to Reggae Marathon

The countdown has begun

I go through a series of emotional stages throughout the 365 days between stagings of Reggae Marathon.  It’s not a start/finish exactly more of an ebb and flow of feelings.  Around June  the glow of the past year’s Reggae Marathon finally fades to be replaced with  the slowly building anticipation of the next Reggae Marathon race weekend.  As summer comes to an end that feeling of pending excitement starts to build. I regularly look at last year’s race weekend video for a boost:  Running in the Capital of Casual.

Getting in shape for Reggae Marathon follows a similar flow.  I do a lot of sustain running throughout the summer but really turn my attention to more serious training in the fall.  In Jamaica, there are a series of races across the island leading up to Reggae Marathon that are ideal to get/keep you in top running

form. Check them out at this link:  Jamaican Race Calendar. The first fall event is September 22 in Sandy Bay, Hanover.  All the details are available at the above link.

While choosing my hotel in Negril is not a ‘sporting activity’, I spend hours pouring over Google Maps checking out the hotels along the strip.  Additionally, on the Reggae Marathon web site there is a very handy link that has information on most of the hotels along the race route.  What I especially like is that they show the distances to the race start.  Very nice.  Check out the link here:  Reggae Marathon Negril Hotels.

And once you decide, check out this link for Reggae Marathon hotel discounts:  Diving Caribbean Hotels.

And if you missed it last week, below is the special Reggae Marathon newsletter with some additional information on the race weekend, airline discounts from American Airlines and info on how to support our charity partner, the Heart Foundation of Jamaica.

Run and train hard, stay healthy and I’ll see you in Negril November 30 for the Reggae Marathon Pasta Party ahead of race day December 1.

Until next time…
